 Attend a class

Attending a membership class is the first step toward becoming a member. Membership classes talk about Lakeshore's origins and vision and answer questions like, "What is a church member?" And, "Why is church membership important and how is it biblical?" You will also be given a free book titled "7 Basics of Belonging" by Dr. Sam Rainer.

INTERVIEW WITH AN ELDER

Finally, you will need to meet with one of the elders at Lakeshore. This interview is more like a conversation where the elder you are meeting with can get to know you a little better. In this interview they will ask you questions such as; "What is the Gospel" and "What is our mission as Christians?"

RECEIVE a letter

After completing these steps and upon the affirmation of the elders, you will receive a letter completing the membership process!

Why Should You Become a Member?

At Lakeshore City Church, we believe church membership is vital for the health and growth of the congregation.

We are on this earth to continue the mission that Jesus left for us, "Go and make disciples of all nations" (Matt 28:19). But we can't accomplish that on our own, nor are we expected to.

God tells us to work together with the Christians He has placed in our lives to bring His healing and transformation into the life of the world. His plan of redemption involves the church working in unity to reach the people around us.

Inside the church, this means that we devote ourselves to the members of our church body. We have a responsibility to challenge one another, to love one another, and to serve one another in a variety of ways.

When every member takes this seriously it results in a healthy church, according to God's Word in Ephesians 4:16.

from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.

Ephesians 4:16
Not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

Hebrews 10:25 (ESV)
