Going Beyond

From Appreciation to Depreciation of Human Life

“But who are you, O man, to talk back to God? Shall what is formed say to Him who formed it, ‘Why did you make me like this?’” – Romans 9:20

The foundational principles of this great nation, despite the protests of revisionist historians, were founded on a Biblical worldview. A careful review of the written work of our founding fathers, combined with an overview of selected Scriptures, will confirm such a claim and serve as a contrast against the spirit of the age in which we now live. More specifically, today’s self-serving culture has moved from presuming in favor of life to presuming in favor of death.

God Used An Uzi

Romans 12:3, “For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.”

Someone once said… Pride consists in an unduly exalted opinion of one’s self. It is, therefore, impatient of a rival, hates a superior, and cannot endure a master.

Believe

Why Do You Believe the Gospel?

Why do you believe the Gospel?

Isn’t that such a powerful question? Why do you believe what you believe? A lot of times we brush off how one became a believer or why somebody doesn’t believe. However, I would like to break it down the best I can and I pray that if you read this and find yourself conflicted about how you came to Christ you go straight to prayer about it, and to God’s Word. Do not take what I have to say as fact but look into it for yourself. Salvation is something that every person should work out for themselves.

Serve Him

Who Do You Serve?

1 Corinthians 12:12-19

12For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. 13For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body — Jews or Greeks, slaves or free — and all were made to drink of one Spirit. 14For the body does not consist of one member but of many.

The Legal Right to Take What Jesus Died to Save

“Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter. If you say, “But we knew nothing about this,” does not He who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not He who guards your life know it? Will He not repay each person according to what he has done?” – Proverbs 24:11-12

On January 24, 2011, this nation recognized the 38th anniversary of what one of our highest elected officials termed “….a Supreme Court decision that protects women’s health and reproductive freedom, and affirms a fundamental principle: that government should not intrude on private family matters.” Such antiseptic language has become common place and continues to perpetuate the widely held myth that a legal right is not only the right thing, but that one’s “choice” to exercise that right must be protected at all costs, regardless of the damage that has been done to the very fabric of this nation’s soul and psyche.

Worship

How Can I Keep From Singing?

When we are hurt we cry, when we are scared we scream, when we hear something funny we laugh, why is it that when the Spirit moves we don’t always naturally respond?

It should be embedded into our minds to automatically raise our voice when encouraged to engage in songs of worship to our God.

Giving God Everything

Overwhelmingly Deserves Praise

We are to praise God daily for the blessings He’s bestowed upon us and even for those He’s withheld from us. Praise is an important part in how we can and should communicate with our Father. We are called to praise and worship Him. When we praise God, we are glorifying our King, the omnipotent One. Our purpose on this earth is to bring Him praises and glorify Him. If we aren’t wholeheartedly praising Him, then how are we giving God all the glory?

Questions That Leave A Mark

“Sorry Church, I (Jesus) was ‘off’ tonight…”

It’s towards the end of “service” and Jesus is profusely apologizing to His cozy congregation in the 4.5 million dollar building that the “board of directors” just took a loan out for. And we can’t really blame Jesus, the “worship” band was off, missing notes, or maybe it was the tempo that was off. The video clip that was supposed to set up His message skipped a couple times causing more than a few disgruntled looks.

    Well-Intended People
Recently I began reading a book called “Well-Intentioned Dragons” by Marshall Shelley. The crux of the book is dealing with problem people. When God calls us to build His kingdom it is not likely that your takeoff will be smooth. You may need to clear your runway, even before you take off. What you will [...]

    Do You Love Your Church?
I love what Jesus says about the church. The church is the bride of Christ. He loves the church because the church is a place where we tell people about Jesus and what He did for us. It’s a place where we can share each others burdens and be a family. When you brag on [...]

    The Spirit is Moving
The word of God says that Jesus has ascended into heaven and at this very time sits at the right hand of God the Father. If that is not enough for you, according to John 16:7, Jesus sends us the Holy Spirit to live within each believer. John 16:8 also happens to give us the [...]

    Lead!
When we think of Moses, we think “Leader” with a capital L. The guy was awesome! It seemed like daily he would look to heaven and say “OK God, what next?!” And as another day passed, Moses would again look to heaven and say “How about today, Lord, tell me what to do.” Moses was [...]

Verse of the Day

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

(Ephesians 5:1-2, ESV)
