Part 1: 1 Peter tells use that we have such a great knowledge and revelation available to us in Christ that “…angels long to look.” (1 Peter 1:12).
Part 2: Satan, aka Lucifer, was an “anointed guardian cherub”, “in the holy mountain of God”, “blameless in [his] ways from the day [he] was created” (Ezekiel 28).
Let’s piece these parts together:
The bible explicitly teaches us that the knowledge we have in Christ is so precious and holy, it sets us above the angels in heaven; or, in the case of Lucifer, the angels not in heaven. Now, think about that. If we are granted such favor with THE God to know the greatest mysteries He sets before us (Ephesians 1), why then should we become victims of the fallen angel, Satan, that seeks to lead us away from that knowledge?
If Satan could grasp the fact that all power that he has is a facade given to him from the Mighty and Holy God, do you think he would still endeavor to “…[seek] someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8)? The bible tells us that the enemy has been defeated. We have that knowledge; it is revealed to us that evil has no power over us if we are in Christ. We can already claim victory, and so, we should LIVE like it.
So church, live today knowing that Satan has long been defeated and we stand strong and firm in that precious knowledge. Apparently, Satan didn’t get that memo, because he’s still out there ‘trying’ to devour God’s people.
