tothemen

This weekend I was fortunate enough to be a part of a good friend’s wedding. In my study and preparation, I was reminded of my role as a husband. So, this is a call and a challenge to all of you married (or to be married) men. Ephesians 5 tells us that we are to love our wives as Christ loved the church. Christ loved the church enough to give up His life for her, as should we give up our lives for the wives God gave us. But think a bit deeper about that… if we love like Christ, we are called to have infinite patience, grace, forgiveness, and unconditional love for our wives.

What is our role in our relationship with Christ? We love Him and obey Him. What is His role? To lay down His life for us and then endure with patience, grace, mercy and love as we turn our back on Him through our disobedience on a daily basis! Are we willing to lead our homes that way? Do we forgive? Do we show mercy and grace? Your wife is not perfect… if she was perfect there would be no need for unconditional love… therefore, let’s remember how Christ loves us and love our wives in the same way!

Men, let’s be different than the world! Yes, you are called to be the head of your household… but in Christ’s example… a servant leader! Let’s be a representation of Christ IN OUR HOMES FIRST! Then we can be effective representatives for Him in the world!

    Well-Intended People
Recently I began reading a book called “Well-Intentioned Dragons” by Marshall Shelley. The crux of the book is dealing with problem people. When God calls us to build His kingdom it is not likely that your takeoff will be smooth. You may need to clear your runway, even before you take off. What you will [...]

    Do You Love Your Church?
I love what Jesus says about the church. The church is the bride of Christ. He loves the church because the church is a place where we tell people about Jesus and what He did for us. It’s a place where we can share each others burdens and be a family. When you brag on [...]

    The Spirit is Moving
The word of God says that Jesus has ascended into heaven and at this very time sits at the right hand of God the Father. If that is not enough for you, according to John 16:7, Jesus sends us the Holy Spirit to live within each believer. John 16:8 also happens to give us the [...]

    Lead!
When we think of Moses, we think “Leader” with a capital L. The guy was awesome! It seemed like daily he would look to heaven and say “OK God, what next?!” And as another day passed, Moses would again look to heaven and say “How about today, Lord, tell me what to do.” Moses was [...]

Verse of the Day

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

(Ephesians 5:1-2, ESV)
