Continuing on from our post yesterday, 5,000 to 1, let’s look at a bit of faith and it’s effects. If you check out John 2:6-11, you’re going to see Jesus performing the first miracle of the Gospel of John. But, let’s not focus on the miracle itself, but rather the message that this miracle sends.
Ok, so let’s pick up after Jesus had to turn the water to wine. Jesus now tells the servants to “take [the wine] to the master of the feast” (John 2:8b ESV). Now, think about the faith that it takes for these servants to just go and give this water/wine to their master. What if Jesus is a fake and it’s still water? What if the wine is bad? What if, what if, what if? Let’s change those ‘what if’ questions to this: What if we just listen to Jesus? You see, Jesus isn’t a fake and His works never produce anything bad, so our faith is valid because Jesus is infinitely valid.
Here’s the proof: “Everyone serves the good wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then the poor wine. But you have kept the good wine until now.” (John 2:10 ESV). Jesus didn’t only perform this miracle to produce more wine for the party, He produced this wine to show that what He does is good, in fact, the best!
So, when Jesus tells you to do something, you do it. Why? Because the Word of God says that He produced the GOOD wine. I’ll put my faith in that!
