So many of us sat in front of a TV last Thursday night, eyes glued to the drama that unfolded as the Lakers won their 16th World Championship. Just as the tension could not get any higher, the game was over and the celebration began – people high fiving, jumping around, screaming at the top of their lungs, and for what… a funny looking golden ball trophy. Fast forward to Sunday… we come to meet together in Worship of our God. Do we feel any tension as we venture into the presence of the almighty God? As we prepare to worship, does that tension turn into celebration? Are we high fiving, jumping around, screaming at the top of our lungs? Okay, maybe that’s a bit extreme, or maybe not??? Take a moment and think about what you feel when you enter into HIS presence. Is there a healthy fear, coupled with a feeling of celebration, all wrapped up with a peace that is unexplainable?
Let me challenge you friends not to ever let coming into HIS presence become commonplace… 2Let us come into His presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to Him with songs of praise! 3For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods. Psalm 95:2-3… Doesn’t HE deserve the highest praise we can give?
There’s a big parade downtown today, celebrating 12 men who won a trophy and there will be thousands of people celebrating their “accomplishment”… it’s a ridiculous comparison, but how much more should we be celebrating 1 God who sent His Son to pay the ransom for the sins of those 12 men and for all of the rest of us… where’s His parade?
It should happen every day in our hearts and through our actions! Let’s Celebrate!
