Almost everyday we wake up and it’s a fight against flesh to get ourselves exactly where we need to be, in the Word of God. As I was reading Hosea 4, I see a people who are far from the will of God solely because “there is no faithfulness or steadfast love, and no KNOWLEDGE of God in the land” (Hosea 4:1b). We have to get into our bibles everyday, and then do what it says. A common excuse for ditching the blessings of the word is “I need sleep”. It was mine for a LONG time. But here’s some food for thought, were we saved by sleeping (or sleeping in) or were we saved by the Word that was from the beginning? You see, 1 John 2:14 says “I write to you, fathers, because you know him who is From the beginning.” John isn’t speaking literally about fathers but more about the mature Christian. Our goal is to be more like Jesus Christ (a.k.a. sanctification) and know Him more intimately. What better way to achieve this than by study Him and His word.
Here’s a little phrase to help you to remember to read your bible: “Read before you feed.” Meaning, right before you eat, open your bible and read it.
