It says in Proverbs 2:4 to “…seek her as silver…”. It’s hard to really grasp what it takes to actually seek something like silver. You have to be diligent and persistent in your mining of silver. You have to get your hands dirty. You have to be determined and committed to your job, because it’s dangerous too!
“That’s the way we ought to seek the knowledge of God’s Word.” – John MacArthur.
It’s not enough to just read the word. We HAVE to dig into it, mine it, and seek it with all we have to really grasp the gift God has given us. In Job 28:9 it says that “man puts his hand to the flinty rock and overturns mountains by the roots.” Man literally overturns mountains to find this silver. Because of our fallen state, it’s much easier to spend a big chunk of our time seeking after the treasures of this world, when in fact, God has given us a treasure so infinite and perfect, that we may spend our entire lives seeking its riches to find that we’ve only scratched the surface. I’m talking about His Word!
So today, when you go about your business, your daily lives, remember that seeking God’s Word has eternal reward. The knowledge, love, exhortation, and beauty offered in the word of God towers over anything our flesh could ever lead to us to believe we need.
SEEK the Word of God! Even if it means overturning mountains!
