I was reading James chapter 2 and the first thing that comes to mind is action. Faith requires action. We can talk a good “christianese”, but is it backed up by the way we live? We are to be living out our faith as believers of Jesus and rescue this fallen world from the grips of the enemy. When God spoke to Abraham he listened, he believed, he reacted and was declared righteous (James 2:23). His action proved his righteousness, and because of his obedience he became the father of many nations. Abraham acted in belief. If we say we are christians, then we are to be like Christ and live like he did. He reached out to the poor, he spoke with love, he rebuked when it was necessary, and most importantly, he was obedient to his heavenly father. Why? So that others may come to repentance and have a personal relationship with him. James mentions it twice (v 17,26 ), that faith without works is dead. It is mentioned twice in less than 10 verses. It is that important. How can those who are dead spiritually, come to Christ if we are not living out our faith? If that is the case, then we are dead also. Friends, our lives may be the only bible that people read, and when they wonder why your happy all the time and you rejoice in trials, it is an opportunity to share the gospel and save the lost.
